Derrick is a Kenmore local where he attended Inglemoor High School. While in high school he was on the track team and was an avid freestyle skier. After a few skiing injuries he decided to pursue becoming a physical therapist. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Western Washington University. He then attended graduate school at Idaho State University where he earned a masters in athletic training and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2023.

While at Western he worked as a personal trainer at his school’s gym and worked in the schools rehabilitation clinic. He spent a year and a half working in Anacortes as an aide before moving to Idaho for athletic training and physical therapy school.

He has experience working with division I football, track and softball athletes at Idaho State University as well as a variety of high school sports. During his clinicals in physical therapy school he worked in a variety of orthopedic clinics as well as in a hospital working with patients recovering from COVID-19. He has a special interest in ACL rehabilitation, lifting injuries and other sports related injuries.

Derrick is passionate about helping all active individuals and athletes get back to doing what they love pain free. He believes that our bodies are resilient.  He will work hard to find a way for patients to stay active during the recovery process.

When Derrick is not in the clinic, he is either working out, drinking some fancy coffee, chasing after fresh powder skiing in the mountains, surfing a left handed break, swinging a golf club or hiking with his dog/best bud Balto.
