Joe is a Physical Therapist (PT) and Athletic Trainer from Lebanon, Tennessee who specializes in sports injuries and post-operative conditions (especially ACL rehab). Joe is also an outdoor enthusiast who loves adventure and novelty -  whether that’s in outdoor hobbies, new cuisines, new books, or new funky alt rock music. Joe’s outdoor hobbies vary widely depending on the season or mood: rock climbing, skiing, mountaineering, backpacking, sports, and trail running.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at Cumberland University where he played baseball for Hall of Fame coach “Woody” Hunt and served as the president of the Athletic Training Student Association at his university. During this time he also volunteered with various PT departments including those at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Joe received his doctorate in PT from the #1 ranked PT school in the country, the University of Delaware. During his clinical internships, Joe worked at a Veteran’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE where he spearheaded an early mobility program there as a joint venture with nursing to improve patient recovery and reduce readmission rates in the inpatient wards. He next supplemented his athletic training experience by joining Mike Reinold and his team of sports PT experts at Champion PT and Performance in Boston, MA working with high level athletes including major league baseball players. He also completed their certification course to become a Champion Performance Specialist. This initial training has influenced his career of constant self-improvement that translates to the best possible care provided to patients.

Joe moved to Washington state in 2021 enticed by the natural beauty found in the area and the second-to-none access to nature sports like mountaineering, rock climbing, and skiing. Joe met and married the love of his life, Hope, after moving to Washington state. They share in each other's enthusiasm for nature, food, learning, and community. They also share a common passion for holistic, patient-centered healthcare, as she will graduate from UW medical school in May, 2024 and continue on in pediatric residency. They see themselves continuing to dig deep roots in the community both in life and medical practice.

Joe has been a physical therapist for LWPT, Kenmore since moving in 2021, and in this time, he has learned from the deliberate mentoring of Joe Nance PT, MPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, ATC and Stacy Soapmann PT, DSc, FAAOMPT and enhanced his manual therapy skillset by earning advanced credentialing as a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) with the ASPIRE organization. He has also completed several professional courses in running injuries, ACL rehab, exercise prescription, Mulligan technique, and athletic injury prevention. In his 3 years living in Washington state he has also quickly become ingrained in the community helping as an athletic trainer with Crossfire Soccer and Cedar Park Christian School, co-leading the men’s ministry at his church Sound City Bible Church, and giving talks to local softball and baseball teams on performance and injury prevention.

Joe’s absolute favorite part of his job is getting the opportunity to partner with patients anywhere on the spectrum of age and activity level in determining how to maintain improvements after care is complete, and live life to the fullest in all the activities and relationships that are most meaningful to each patient.
