LWPT Redmond: Shawn Brenneman

Who IS Shawn Brenneman?

I have had the pleasure of working with Shawn over the past 2 years in preparation for the launch of LWPT Redmond. Our team namely Matt Sato had worked closely with Shawn outside the LWPT staff for the past 5-6 years. Shawn is a driven clinician and devoted husband and father of 2. He brings an excitement and enthusiasm for physical therapy rarely found in my 25+ years in the industry. Shawn’s energy is palpable and contagious. The addition of Shawn to the LWPT team is of clinical significance as he brings an expertise in CrossFit, Soccer, Baseball, Golf, and Manual skills, including manipulation.

Shawn not only will be a practice owner and director but will also be helping with our clinical excellence endeavors, mentoring, and teaching. His roots will run deep in the local CrossFit boxes as well as at my alma mater Redmond High School. Go Stangs!

Shawn grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where his first introduction to physical therapy came after a soccer injury.  The ability for his therapist to connect with him and develop an exercise based plan for his healing led to Shawn wanting to pursue physical therapy as a career.  Shawn competed in baseball, soccer and basketball in high school before playing college baseball at Grove City College in western Pennsylvania while earning his B.S. in Molecular Biology.  He moved onto the University of Pittsburgh and was elected class president.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 with his doctorate in physical therapy.

Shawn worked in the Pittsburgh area as an orthopedic physical therapist for 2 years before making the move to the state of Washington.  He came to Washington to experience hiking and skiing some “real mountains”.  Shawn has worked on orthopedic physical therapy since his move to the Northwest.  For the last 6 years, Shawn has managed single and multi-site teams to focus on improving patient care and experience in his clinics.

“Shawn is a fantastic clinician and an even better person. I am excited to partner with him on this exciting project.”
— Matt Sato, PT, LWPT Houghton Director & Owner

Why Return to Redmond to establish a clinic?

We have gotten this question many times over the past 6 months. As many of you know I had previously been partnered in a clinic in Redmond in the early 2000s with a great therapist Ken Crinklaw. As our group of owners surveyed the local markets for growth opportunities the question from physicians and patients kept coming up. Why don’ you have a presence in Redmond? Some of the factors that drew us back to Redmond were a very successful partnership with Toca Soccer beginning in Redmond in 2017. Our team has also stayed connected with the Redmond Parks Department through various activities including co-ed soccer. LWPT also helped start the Redmond Derby Days Dash in 2011. It seems that all roads have connected us back to my hometown.

Shawn was the driver behind this decision for choosing Redmond. After leaving Pennsylvania Shawn has called the Redmond his community both professionally as well as with Accuo CrossFit home. When mapping out and touring spaces together in Woodinville, Redmond, Bellevue, and New Castle it seemed for the physicians and patients we currently serve Redmond made the most sense as well as the city and landlord, Mike Nelson (a longtime friend) were very welcoming.

“Shawn is going to be highly successful in Redmond. Patients are going to love him and the community will embrace his outgoing and positive energy.”
— Joe Nance, PT, LWPT Kenmore Director & Owner

What is in store at LWPT Redmond

Shawn and his team are eager to open their doors. It appears that through all notices from the City of Redmond this will likely be in early April. Shawn’s vast experience at other regional clinics makes the ability to recruit an amazing team possible. His first hire will be long time aide and now PTA Oliver Billon currently at our Kirkland office. Oliver brings a steadiness both with training aides, assisting patients, and treating complex injuries. He has worked side by side with Shawn before and their mentorship and team work is second to none. I personally cannot think of a better hire than Oliver to help you get off the ground.

“Oliver is one of the nicest and most considerate humans that I have ever encountered. I am so excited for this opportunity for him”
— Sara Wobker, LWPT Director of Operations
